Tottenham Hotspur have drawn Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in the Champions League Round of 16.
Jose Mourinho’s side will face the German outfit during the next two Champions League dates. The first leg, to be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, is on February 18th, followed by the second leg on March 10th when Spurs will travel from London to Leipzig.
But how much will it cost fans to travel to the German city, and how long will it take to get there?
Flights to Leipzig
Having researched the market, flights to Leipzig should cost within the region of £150-£200, should you wish to arrive in Germany on Monday and then return to London Heathrow on Wednesday.
However, travel time can greatly vary. Some flights, including one changeover, are scheduled for three hours, whereas others could take over six hours – so it’s important to check before you book whether the travel time suits your personal situation.
Champions League Odds
Tottenham are currently 20/1 to win the Champions League outright, whereas their coming opponents come in at 40/1 – they are clear outsiders, which suggests they won’t be expected to progress much further than this point and that they probably won’t get past Spurs.
That being said, Leipzig are enjoying a good season in the Bundesliga. They top the table after 15 games, sitting six points ahead of Bayern Munich, after winning their last six games in the German top flight.
Whether that actually serves as a distraction by the time the Champions League returns in the new year remains to be seen, but clearly Mourinho will need to have his wits about him to navigate Spurs’ way through to the quarter-finals.
