Newcastle United recorded their third successive Premier League win and moved up to fourth in the table as they beat Stoke City 2-1 at St James’ Park on Saturday, but it was certainly a mixed day for Magpies striker Joselu.
The Spanish attacker only left the Potters to make the move to Tyneside last month, but he quickly had the opportunity to prove a point to his former employers after already establishing himself as the Toon Army’s first-choice centre-forward.
However, the 27-year-old missed a number of clear-cut chances to find the net against Mark Hughes’ men, although it didn’t matter as goals from Christian Atsu and Jamaal Lascelles proved to be enough for Rafa Benitez’s side.
Newcastle supporters were quick to have their say on Joselu’s performance via social media, and while some were clearly frustrated at his finishing others described him as “so important” to the way the team plays.
