Now, it has emerged that the Portuguese coach tried and failed to land Mario Mandzukic from Juventus during the summer.
According to Calciomercato, the Croatian international, who is valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, rejected the opportunity to move to Old Trafford in favour of staying in Turin.
