The German Super Cup is contested between the Bundesliga champions and the winners of the DFB-Pokal, the German Cup. It was Kane's first time taking part in the showpiece match and he made an instant impact to help his side secure victory.
WHAT KANE SAID
Kane said in a post on social media: "Here we are, first one of the season. Oh, it feels good. It feels good. You know, not easy away from home but credit to the boys, we stepped up and we go again, we look forward to the next one."
He later told the local press: "This is how we wanted to start the season, with a good feeling and a title. It was a short summer break during which we worked hard. But the way we played today was good. It would have been nice if we had scored one or two more goals. But we moved the ball well and worked hard defensively as a whole team."
WHAT NEXT FOR KANE?
Kane is heading into his third season at Bayern and will hope to add to his growing trophy cabinet in 2025-26. The 32-year-old will aim to have another strong season on a personal level as he prepares to lead out his country for the 2026 World Cup under former Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel. There have been suggestions that he may then return to the Premier League next summer.
